Something I enjoy about studying in a group is the opportunity to get different perspectives and experiences.
When we’re sharing in that kind of environment and people open up their lives and we get to see beyond the dress up and the show, it’s really illuminating. I come out of sessions like that motivated to live for Jesus. Motivated to do it in relationship with others. Motivated to see those far beyond the walls of the building have their chance to taste and see that the Lord is good.
What I recognise, however, is the price I pay for that is a relinquishing of my demand for absolute privacy. We discover that the more open you’re being in the relationship, the more likely it is you will be vulnerable. Likewise the more open you are to relating with the other person when they walk through a tricky period of life. The shared hearts and shared minds understandably leads to shared emotions. Sometimes that’s difficult to handle. Especially when you have been told that number one is the self nad you have to protect yourself at all costs.
Trusting Jesus and submitting to Him, allowing Him to take full control and giving up to wherever He leads enables you to deal with the price you pay for following Him. He has paid the price. There is none of this that we can do in our strength and the victories that we witness are proof of His grace guiding us and empowering us to give ourselves for the benefit of others.
It’s good to know that the price you pay, has already been paid. Will that encourage you to go ahead and be the type of brother or sister you’re called to be in the family?
For His Name’s Sake
Shalom
