Cephas Says: 4 – Following Is Serving

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. (1 Peter 4:10-11)

Spectator Christianity is an oxymoron.

Holy living in the light of the truths about what Jesus has done has consequences. Our attitude in relationships should always  be looking to be loving and compassionate. Likewise the life of each and every believer is not meant to be a spectator and waiting for the Christian experts to feed them,

It’s clear that not only Jesus given His life, He gives us the ability to serve each other. That sort of church life sees everyone on the pitch, not in the stand. Everyone with a part to play,, everyone serving each other as they are equipped by God. The range of that serving is not limited to verbal activities.

Accepting the gospel of Jesus Christ is about rejoicing in the grace given. That response, however, is incomplete without a life that also marks us out as desiring to see each other built up.

That’s why Spectator Christianity is an oxymoron.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
