And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you. For two years now there has been famine in the land, and for the next five years there will be no plowing and reaping. But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance. (Genesis 45:5-7)
Joseph had a dream and then had another dream to reinforce it.
Those dreams were very powerful signs of the level of prominence that he would reach. They would make anyone really happy about how they would turn out.
That’s the good news. If someone told you that to fulfil that you would have to suffer rejection from your brothers, betrayal, thrown in a pit, sold into slavery, subjected to false rape claims, wrongly imprisoned, forgotten and then rendered completely unrecognisable by your brothers it might make you think again about seeing the dream come true.
Yet here is Joseph who has seen the hand of God in it all. He has also seen that it wasn’t about how great Joseph would be, but how strategic his position was in helping his people survive. When you can endure gruelling circumstances and keep your eyes on God and see in hindsight just how masterful He has worked out His plan, it’s reason to celebrate not just for you but for family as well.
I wonder if we could see the hand of God working His plan in our lives over the years. I wonder if we can see that He has allowed us to endure se we can be a blessing to others.
For His Name’s Sake

Awesome post! His hand is all through our lives if we look back and pray for vision to see clearly. He was there all the time!
