Enlarging The Family

This blog comes to you from a hotel room in a place called Redditch.

I have never been to Redditch before. I have not done a tour of the town and I am unlikely to do so before I return home, God willing. The little that I have seen of it is very pleasant. They know how to position their hotels, eateries and training centres. I salute them for that. Should God give the opportunity again, I would love to come back to do some more training, more eating and more admiring of the convenient location of their good hotels and the train station.

The whole staying in hotels thing is something I rather enjoy. Checking out the different locations and the standard of service and then seeing where they are in the context of the vicinity. It’s lovely.

What visiting new places also does for me is give me an idea of what a new church would look like in the area. I’m sure Redditch has its Christian community. I’m sure it wouldn’t hurt to have more joining the family in a bid to share family life and enlarge the family. Not enlarge it just by adding Christians from elsewhere, but by developing new Christians from within. Sharing the gospel, building relationships, making disciples who make disciples. That kind of thing. As that happens it’s fascinating to see what kind of church life and family expression could emerge. I think about the engagement it would have in the local community and sub-cultures.

It’s something I love to think about.

Sure it’s just thinking isn’t it. That won’t bring about any change will it?

Will it?

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
