This evening, my friend Oenca Fontaine had a book launch for her new book My God In A Time Like Now.
Oenca has a lot of strings to her bow, she is an incredibly talented trainer, communicator and networker. Her book launch was a brilliant expression of that. The event had people from a variety of walks of life. From those in business to those in ministry. Black, White and everything in between. Old and young. It was a privilege to be at the event and celebrate the success.
As I sat at a table with other guests it occurred to me that the event also touched on something that was often missed in my upbringing. Namely that the abundant life Jesus promises us is not confined to the activities that take place within the walls of a church facility on a given time in the week. Its impact is to spread to all aspects of our lives – that’s what makes it abundant.
Another good friend of mine sat at the same table as me and I knew her when I was growing up to be a talented singer, but not much else. As I sat next to her she had now explored and embraced an expanded understanding of what it was to be a follower of Jesus Christ. That meant that she was now into skincare products and ad a number of other interests and passions she was developing. All these were able to benefit others in her community and also administer a degree of healing to those who suffered under a system of medicine that wasn’t looking to cure to situation, just manage it. This in itself is another glorious expression of what Kingdom life looks like – what abundant life looks like.
It was a tremendous privilege to sit in that kind of setting and seeing how God was expressing Himself in a time like now.
For His Name’s Sake
Shalom
