Grateful For … (18)

Talent.

One of the things that get me excited a great deal is seeing people identify their gift and then apply themselves to making the most of it.

Recently I came across a friend of mine who is a photographer. I love his work, he’s a talented photographer and seeing him at work is such a joy to me. I got to see how he goes about his work and truly admired his persistence and patience in getting people to be as natural as possible while he created portraits to unleash a host of stories. It was an eye opening remarkable experience with the man and saw quite clearly the difference between pointing the camera to click it and creating visual masterpieces.

I was reminded of that today when I came across this.

Watching the brother really expressing his evident and immense talent in such creative ways made me grateful that this creative God puts brilliant specimens on the planet with glorious deposits for us to share with the world.

I am grateful that every individual made in His image has a contribution to make with their innate talents that need not be like the multi-instrumentalist. It can be a relatively unassuming talent, it can be a straightforward functional talent, but whatever it is, we have it to share with humanity so folks can be blessed by it. It’s another reminder that communities are perfect places to create the environment in which those talents can truly be expressed. Set free from the inhibitions of the rat race and the delusional grasp for security and material comfort.

Long may the talents shine.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
