Grateful For … (16)

Good starts.

I take good starts for granted. I was even saying to a colleague today that I prefer bad starts and good finishes to good starts and bad finishes. Yet today was a notable exception.

My alarm goes off at 0500 and it’s not unusual that it will take me the best part of the hour to get out of bed. On this occasion today, however, I was far more prepared to get up and get on with business. That is what I did to a remarkably efficient and effective extent.

So much so that by the time I left for work at 0810 I was so pleased with how the start had gone I was walking down the street applauding God. There I was giving God the applause for allowing the start to go so wonderfully well. Quality time with my daughter especially was a highlight. Taking the time to consider the various responsibilities I had to execute and maintaining the priority with the Word in considering the 1 John series was particularly pleasing. It may not be much to you, but it was so deeply satisfying to me. All that contributed to the round of applause that He received on my way to work.

It’s got to be something when it leaves such a mark that it’s worth mentioning at the end of the day. It’s made me reflect again at the beauty of a good start. It can indeed be the foundation to have some equilibrium in the rest of the day. Trust me, that was certainly the case with some of the challenges that I would face in the rest of the day.

That is something I hope to maintain and then allow it to positively influence what may happen in the day.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
