Keeping Calm

One of the things I admire my Dad for is his ability to keep calm about things.

It was not a secret to him. The wisdom of it all was fairly straightforward for him and amounted to this. If he could do something about it, he would. If he couldn’t do anything about it, he wouldn’t get himself upset over something he couldn’t o. To him it was a waste of energy. Far better to invest that energy in carrying on with his life in a constructive manner.

My Dad was not a lazy man at all and was diligent in seeking ways to resolve difficult situations. What he did not allow, however, was for those difficult situations to get on top of him because he knew the main loser in it would be him.

He practiced it so often in his daily life, when he explained it to me it merely reinforced something I knew to be fact from all the tie I saw him deal calmly with life. I don’t know many people who were so assured as him. I recognise it’s hard to practice in my life, but they are fruitful and memorable occasions when the wisdom kicks in and the practices is in alignment with it. I love it and prefer to be lead by that way of life.

It frees up energy to invest it in worthwhile and fruitful pursuits.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
