Grateful For … (12)

Expression.

My line manager at works appreciates open communication. She welcomes it and endeavours to be responsive to it as much as possible.

Today was one of those days when she expressed gratitude for the way I utilise that opportunity to be open in communication. I needed it to convey some matters for her attention. Her response was to reaffirm the freedom of communication and she encouraged me not to bottle things up.

My wife knows quite a lot about me bottling things up. For years my approach avoided self-disclosure. Whatever state I was in, good, bad or indifferent, I saw that as secondary to the views of the other person. I would suffer in silence and with the issue eating me from the inside it would take its toll. I rarely was as open as I should have been with God in prayer. I would stew and allow it to be ever more corrosive.

Thank God for grace. Thank God for lessons in life that taught me beyond any shadow of a doubt wisdom says there is a time to express yourself. It makes no sense to bottle it in and get ill with it, especially as there’s no resolution to the matter. I can gain from the wisdom of others when I disclose that which burns within.

Today I am very grateful for the opportunity to express myself and find peace in casting all my cares on Him who cares for me. I am grateful that I can express and receive grace and peace to see things in their bigger perspective and realise the journey leads to the place of peace run by the Prince of Peace for the glory of God.

I hope others will likewise come across life giving opportunities to express themselves and likewise find peace.

For His Name’s Sake
Shalom
