Grateful For … (5)

The Word.

I have loved words ever since I can remember. I have loved the way they conjure so much in my mind and can stimulate so much in me. They have kept me amused for hours on end.

Today, however, I am particularly grateful for the impact of the Word of God on my life. One of the signs of a resurgence in my personal affairs is a greater hunger and consumption of the Word of God. Not for the sake of having more words to say, but because of a greater appreciation that life is genuinely found in His Word.

The type of day I had today might have previously seen me rely on someone or something else. Today, though, encountering the challenges of the day I found strength and encouragement in knowing what God says in His Word. How perfect peace is maintained by focus on Him. How it’s important to overcome evil with good. How it is an opportunity to share the Kingdom of God in conduct as well as word when I am thankful and looking to build where others condemn.

That sort of dependence and strength in the Word is something for which I am deeply grateful. It’s that source of strength that even enables me to deal graciously with my family and go on to have great encounters with good friends. It’s that sort of dependence that will enable me to be fruitful in doing what God calls me to do.

It’s why I am so grateful for His Word.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
