Grateful For … (3)

Good people around you are a blessing.

It is not always the case that good people will be around, so when good people are around they are to be treasured. Today I came across a friend I used to work with. I had come across the friend for the first time since I moved back to Stoke-on-Trent last week. We met again this evening. It was good catching up on how things had been since I was last here.

The story was told of a mutual friend who was now overwhelmed with the pressures of work and home and as such became more attached to his position and role, and less detached from his relational need for community.

When what you do starts to affect who you are negatively particularly with regard to relationships, it is not a good place to be. That is a place I have visited a number of times in my life.

Today there are key people in my life who ask, enquire, challenge, remind, provoke, rebuke and correct me. Today I am grateful for those people and recognise my desperate need for them in order to be nudged and directed in the ways of Jesus. I am grateful for that community.

(By the way the mutual friend – it’s all good, that situation won’t remain that way … because good people around you are a blessing … to be continued …)

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
