Grateful For … (1)

Today I am grateful for …

… Completing an outstanding assignment that a friend of mine had patiently waiting for me to complete. This had been a long time coming and there were a number of challenges in the way to its completion. At times my integrity and commitment were questioned and it was understandable why anyone would ever think it could be completed considering it had been almost two years since I had last applied myself to such a task.

By God’s grace, though, I was in the zone. You know the zone. Well if you don’t know the zone allow me to introduce you to the zone. In my zone there is the right music playing. As that music plays I pace myself to write the things I need to write in the timing with which I need to write it. I do some research here, some research there, I apply myself to utilising the research. I do some more typing, I do some contemplating, I have a bite to eat, I a sup to drink, I do some more typing, I enter a phase of inspired typing and keep that going for anything up to 90 minutes in one sitting.

Once that is done, the completed work is submitted and a responsibility given is a task finished. Once that task is finished and my job is done, there is that overwhelming sense of relief.

On some occasions I reward myself for completing such tasks with chocolate, the legendary Bakewell Tarts and perhaps a drink of Orange Lucozade. That celebration will have to wait until the end of this month. Yet I still have the sense of exhilaration and deep-seated gratitude for the completion of the task.

I am grateful to God for the strength and inspiration to complete the task. I trust this will be the continuation of a season of starting and completing tasks.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
