Solid September Sale: No Longer Neglecting The Hard Parts

Dodging and diving.

I can relate with the thinking that leads  someone to think that as long as they are dodging and diving the trickier parts of life and still living then it’s alright. You may be aware of the sort. He likes the unprotected sex, he’s not so keen on looking after the child that comes from it. She loves to put those clothes on the credit card, she’s not so keen on the mounting unread letters with red type.

That is the sort of thing I  can relate to. There are heavy things to address but rather than deal with it, I skip around it, hoping against hope and sense that somehow it will disappear. Not only will it not disappear, it will loom all the more as long as it’s neglected. The big joke is that a lot of growth and self awareness comes from addressing the hard bits.

That’s wonderful to know when you overcome some issues. It’s not always as easy to remember when the challenges become larger or more complex. Different issues don’t get resolved with the same methods. It requires an acknowledgement that help is needed and then it requires the humility to see that help must come from outside. It requires patience to know that the issue will not be resolved overnight. The character required to endure, learn and take joy in the process is a trying but worthwhile endeavour.

To be honest there are a number of things I am going through at the moment that require hard decisions. Relationships are involved and just when I am setting into a pattern that could all be up in the air in the light of changes that will be made. I am reluctant to address it. It’s a big deal. I know, however, that I won’t be at peace with myself or my key relationships until the matter is addressed.

I pray for those who are still dodging and diving. I pray they will stop. As I pray that I won’t be suckered into that mindset when it comes to these big things that come my way.

For His Name’s Sake
Shalom
