It occurred to me.
The more I dwelt on it, the more powerful it became. Jesus Christ is beautiful.
Preaching captives set free, prisoners liberated, broken hearted healed. That is so beautiful.
Healing sick, bringing sight to the blind, hearing to the deaf, touching the leper, restoring prostitutes. That is so beautiful.
Consistency and quality throughout the period. Majestic splendour. You are used to these displays and these are all beautiful.
I considered how I can be impacted by a brilliant documentary, drama, football match, piece of music, meal or relationship. All of these can render me speechless because of a beauty in them.
Yet I can miss the most fundamental element in them all. They are beautiful only because they find their source of beauty in the Beautiful Saviour.
As I gaze on Him and contemplate Him it becomes ever clearer that like Mary, my time is better spent at His feet. Listening to Him. Looking to Him. Absorbing His character and over time and experience allowing Him to be reflected in me to others.
This course of action requires determined effort, because so many distractions compete for my attention. But He takes prominence because there is none like Him, none as beautiful. It is the beauty of His holiness and the wonder of His grace that is so compelling.
My prayer is for that beauty to radiate as I commit more time to pursuing Him.
For His Name’s Sake
Shalom
