I am blessed with amazing friends who elicit the most amazing things from me because of them.
One of the most touching things that my wife shares with me, is that she has never told anyone else she loves them as much as she tells me. What is all the more profound is how often and consistent those sentiments are supported by her acts. It is engrained in her to consider the wellbeing of her husband. She is saying what I know to be at the core of her being. It is intrinsic to who she is.
Reflecting on that gave great insight on the view of what it means to hide the Word in your heart so that you won’t sin against God. As a great friend of mine expressed, it’s about a whole approach to God. He is engrained in your being. Your love for Him as expressed through His Word captures heart and mind, body and soul, all wrapped together. He is deeply embedded in you, so your desire and being is ever truly aimed for Him.
This is truly amazing and only ever a result of His Spirit in your life. Yet such love moves and motivates you consciously and unconsciously. It’s amazing, it’s thrilling. It’s enriching and empowering by setting us free not to pursue riches and power as the ultimate, but only ever finding satisfaction in Him.
It’s not just an exercise of memorising text. It’s not having a great ability at quoting scripture and verse. It is the power of His love inside you, working itself out of you in what you do, so He alone is seen.
That’s why it is a delight to have the Word Hid In your heart.
For His Name’s Sake
Shalom
