Feeling despondent is not unusual for me.
A group of us was looking at Philippians 3 lately and I was taken with Paul’s reason for wanting the brethren to follow examples like his. Verse 18 highlights how there are those who live as ‘enemies of the cross of Christ’.
We’re able to deal with that, though, if like the writer we seek to set our eyes on the prize. That prize is not earthly. It is not concerned with things temporal. The prize helps us tremendously when it comes to putting things in perspective.
Relationships with like minded folks are a great help in this regard. As with any good story there are obstacles, opponents and distractions that seek to make us ineffective in pursuing all we should. That’s why it’s great to have the prize ever before us
In my despondency, at points of lows God brings the ray of light that the darkness cannot overcome. He reminds me that the prize is of such great value that it’s worth pressing through the dark times.
His grace expresses itself so pertinently at these times. Jesus in His life proved why it was worthwhile and inspires others to press on full of hope, joy and peace in what He has ahead.
He is the reason I keep pressing on.
For His Name’s Sake
Shalom
