A Way Of Acknowledging The Beauty In Others

Not a long time ago I wrote about the way in which God took pleasure in the creation process.

When it comes to cars, I am almost completely apathetic. Some of my peers are big enthusiasts of cars, but they leave me nonplussed.

It was not the greatest invitation of my life to check a documentary about the motor car industry in Britain. A friend alerted me to it and also took the liberty of sitting in while I watched it. This was wise on his part.

The documentary was actually interesting (I am not converted though), what enhanced the experience, however, was the helpful comments of my friend. Sometimes someone speaking while you’re watching is a nuisance, but on this occasion I got insight from my friend about why he loves cars.

As I heard him wax lyrical about cars, the fine machinery, the dedicated craftsmanship, the various factors that made a vehicle so delightful, I heard God looking at His work and saying it was good.

It was more than apparent that my friend was able to admire the beauty in something. To be fair he is just as capable of appreciating the beauty of people.

This is the challenge, though. Applying the same attention and care to celebrating and encouraging the beauty in others.

For His Name’s Sake
