A Birthday Blog For My Beloved Authrine Dryden

She doesn’t look her age.

I remember when we first met over 14 years ago. We sat and talked for a long time. It wasn’t love at first sight, but there was certainly the makings of a beautiful friendship. She liked talking, I liked listening, it was meant to be.

As we conversed I was enjoying the company of this fine young lady and did the thing in my head when I guess her age. I wasn’t backward in coming forward on the issue. When she told me I almost choked. I still refuse to believe it despite confirmation from her birth mother who should know to be fair.

In the time I have had the opportunity to know and love her, I believe I know the secret to her eternal youth. In her resonates a beauty and innocent outlook free of guile and cunning, full of joy and childlike glee that allows her to embrace the light of life with a vigour I have not seen in anyone before or since. It’s a hugely endearing and attractive quality.

It has won her firm friends and gained favour in the most unlikely circumstances. It makes her a tremendous example for the three daughters who look to her for the prime model of womanhood.

It is one of the many factors that makes her one of the best friends I have ever had. I am only too aware how much I don’t know of what a wonderful woman she is.

So as she defies her birth certificate again I celebrate God’s goodness in her life and pray she will go onto impact people’s lives.

For His Name’s Sake
Shalom
C. L. J. Dryden
