Each instrument resound in praise.
I get the song. (Another beauty from the Ron Kenoly album, God Is Able – can you believe it’s 20 years old this year?!!) It’s a great platform to let the instruments in the band praise God in their own way. It’s great to hear the sax, the trumpet, the bass, the lead guitar, the percussion, the keys show off and show out their mastery to the glory of the Creator.
I hear the song, however, and think of each individual in the Body of Christ being a priest called to offer sacrifices to God. I think of each individual believer being in him or herself an instrument designed to praise God in a specific and unique way. I think of the individual designed to not just play solos, but indeed be part of God’s band, God’s orchestra made to blend their sounds in a breathtaking harmony to the King.
I dwell on these things and ask the question: does our church experience (and I mean far more than the weekly gathering) reflect the glorious diversity in God’s orchestra and allow each instrument to resound in praise and together make a truly joyful noise to the Lord?
For His Name’s Sake
