CD Songs: Jesus, He’s My King – VIP Mass Choir feat. John P Kee

A group of us are studying the books of Kings. Fascinating books highlighting the rise and fall of initially the United Kingdom of Israel before its split into the Northern tribes of Israel and the Southern tribes of Judah.

The premise of this, of course, is the children of Israel wanting to be like the nations around them.  Despite their disobedience in wanting a king in the first place, it is a good thing that from their mistake through the line of King David we ended up with the one and only true and lasting King of Kings.

That’s why I love songs like this that reminds me that Jesus is not a personal saviour, He is the promised Messiah, the King to reign not just over Israel, but over all creation.

Another reason to love this song, obviously, is because John P. Kee and Shawn McLemore are having fun on the lyrics ably supported by the VIP Mass Choir and the band. Notable in the band is supreme organist, keyboardist and pianist Billy Preston who evidently knows his way around a Hammond pretty good. Enjoy.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
