The love of God is real.
When I am down and feeling low there are good people around me. Now that could be said for anyone, it doesn’t have to be a Christian. The difference with the community of Jesus Followers, though, is how this love is not just about making you feel good. It was about connecting you back to the source of life and recognising Him first and foremost before letting that recognition influence and shape your perspective.
That cuts out any room for any prolonged self-pity or self-loathing. I am a child of God. Jesus is my big brother. The Spirit that rose Him from the dead lives in me. My circumstances don’t need to immediately change. My perspective is the only change that is needed. As I see Him and as the love of brothers and sisters in Christ motivates and inspires me, cajoles and rebukes me, even the lows that I walk through are tinged with the light of hope around me and ahead of me.
I am grateful for the platform of that love that inspires me to keep on living and loving. It’s all well and good hearing about the love and seeing other people talk about. That’s great. To be a beneficiary of it though, and know you can be a conduit of it – well that feels like that’s what life was always meant to be about.
So to those people, whether regular readers of the blog, casual net acquaintances or intensely intimate sojourners in this quest for life, thank you. Thank you very much.
For His Name’s Sake
Shalom
