Wisdom Produces Wonders

Wonders.

By the very word these are supposed to be what attracts people because of the brilliance within that produces the beauty without. They are wonders as we consider how they are what they are and how they last through the tests of time.

There are scenes of nature and constructs of man that people refer to as wonders.  There are experiences that people go through that leave people thinking it was truly … wonderful.

Recently people have been celebrating Mothering Sunday (or Mother’s Day if you will). The words of tributes offered to mothers old and young are very fitting in terms with a true wonder.

King Lemuel knew all about the wonders of a good mother.  Indeed his Mum gave him some quality advice as to the kind of woman he should look out for to be is wife.  The qualities listed in Proverbs 31:10-31 are the ingredients to a wonder woman, to the extent that some argue that no woman could ever live up to such a standard of womanhood.

The tributes of some women, however, suggest that it’s not too far away from being a reality for women.  It is certainly something for women to aspire and believe they can express in their own way and their own context, as long as they bear in mind the foundation of what makes the woman so wonderful.

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. (Proverbs 31:30)

From the beginning of Proverbs the key to life, to success to joy is not found in things that are deceptive and fleeting.  It’s found in acknowledging the enduring and the eternal wonder.  To be a wonder, male or female, wisdom says behold the Wonder.

For His Name’s Sake
