The Wise Option

There appears to be only two choices.  This is not a shopping trip with hundreds of brands and styles to go for.  Only two.

One has a home built on solid foundations. The invitation is extended for those to come and eat food thoroughly prepared in a welcoming home.  As the meal is enjoyed there is also an opportunity to digest the real food of life that can help avoid pitfalls. The invite is from someone who has taken the care and attention to prepare the meal herself.

The other invite comes from someone who isn’t so scrupulous and self-respecting.  Rather the offer is pretty broad, fairly explicit and blatant in its efforts to entice and then ensnare anyone who has not considered her own track record. The appeal may be seductive and tempting, but there is something fatal that lurks behind it.

On the face of that, the choice to take would be fairly obvious. Here’s the thing though, because some of us don’t necessarily want to go down a sensible route, and because the other prospect seems so alluring there is every possibility quite a number of people will in their simple state refuse the wise option.

Those who wish to pursue the wise option embark on a course of life long learning where rebukes are appreciated and welcomed as they help develop the character.  The wise option is an ongoing path that never rests on its laurels.  Wise people always love to learn new things and the first thing they realise is the importance of revering and acknowledging the Creator of the Universe for who He is.  After all, that’s where all wisdom truly begins.

Words like ‘reliable’, ‘faithful’, ‘enduring’ and ‘productive’ may not be as sexy as words like ‘delicious’ and ‘sweet’, but in the short and long run the former words are far better to adopt than the latter.

Every day these options present themselves in how we choose to manage our decisions.  Every day these options are open to us to pursue that could shape the present and future.

There are only two options available. It makes sense to go for the wise option.

For His Name’s Sake
