I wonder what would happen if the church was as serious about forgiveness as it is about other more prominent issues.
Having just spoken of procedure to take to sort out relational disharmony, Jesus replies to a good question about forgiveness.
The story Jesus outlines is stunning, gripping and ultimately shows how seriously God treats forgiveness. To be clear as well, this is what the King expects from His servants.
Having been forgiven and having the insurmountable debt wiped out by the King, it is only reasonable that we extend similar grace. However much we’ve been hurt, betrayed and disappointed, we are still called to follow the lead of the King and from the heart forgive.
From the heart forgive. Release from the debt. Truly acts we can only do by the power of the King. A power we can connect with when we remember and cherish just how much we have been forgiven.
The alternative is being considered as a bible reading, church attending, tithe paying, inspired preaching, care giving – wicked servant.
For His Name’s Sake
