Meditating on the Word day and night is quite a feat.
As a boy growing up and going to church, it was clear to me that there types who talked a good talk and those who passionately lived it out. Two aged men in particular stood out as tremendous examples to me of staying passionate as the years pass.
Both men fell asleep and left a deep impression on me regarding the role those who are older play in the life of the church. Bot h men exhibited how falling asleep was the only satisfactory way of doing retirement. Their fire burned brightly and fiercely for truth, righteousness, love and humility as they got older.
These men were not just approachable to young bucks, they practically embraced the likes of me. They came underneath as well as along me. Their example made Word life intriguing to me.
It will be great to see the older folks seek to come underneath the young to support them with the platform they need to flourish. It will be great to see young people embrace the humility and wisdom from the elders that are intrinsic to successful living from the earliest age.
