Resourceful

I tend to call my beloved wife, “Mrs MacGyver”.

This is not because she’s married to MacGyver (to the best of my knowledge). It’s primarily because she displays such a spirit of make-do in whatever situation she finds herself. Her capacity to turn an seemingly empty kitchen into a belly filling gourmet delight leaves me sitting back applauding that remarkable ability.

It’s not just in the kitchen. It’s a trait she has that makes such an impact on the lives of her family and loved ones. As she is so committed to making the most of what she has, it means she can come up with useful assistance in almost any scenario. It might be a word of advice or a decent contact. Could be her knack of finding great deals or getting the timing spot on to cash in as the opportunity arises.

I benefit from this and am left chuckling to myself at just how much God is a genius for allowing me to be so blessed with a woman like her as my wife,

As I do so, however, I’m also reminded that this is the same God who was able to get a man to use his stick in helping bring about a nation’s deliverance. This is the same God who was able to get someone’s attention through a donkey. This is the same God who instructed a woman to fill containers with the ‘little’ oil she had left and use that to clear substantial debts with enough excess funds to allow her and her child to live on.

This is the same God who was able to feed over five thousand folks with two fish and five loaves!

Now He expresses that resourceful nature by saying that His church can reflect His character and ability by every member being active in their calling. When every member plays his and her part, it builds everyone to be able to mature to the fullness of Christ.

It’s amazing that God would express Himself through the diversity of humanity and give us a family that helps see God for who He is and get further drawn to Him. It’s amazing to experience such support in seeking Christ from the youngest to the oldest. It’s a joy. One that cannot afford to be neglected under some different styles of church which never allows for the priesthood of believers to practically function in all life.

For healing, development, care, wisdom and the ultimate expression of love, He gives us brothers and sisters. Without these our life in Christ wouldn’t be as enriching and rewarding. In that we also contribute by being answered prayers for others.

It’s so resourceful, I could be convinced to talk of the Body of Christ being Communal MacGyver!

For His Name’s Sake
Shalom
