A Brief Word Of Gratitude For My Family

When I got home, I eventually made it upstairs to be greeted by my three daughters performing a dance just for me.  Sure it wasn’t the best choreographed piece you’ve ever seen, but they pranced about with such enthusiasm and joy, the grin was permanently etched on my face.

I sat to talk to my wife, and she effusively shared the nature of her day the ups and downs.  She shared without any sense of inhibition.

That my family felt so free and loving in my company is something I cannot afford to take for granted.

It has not always been the case.  For that to be the case is something that highlights the grace of God on my life.  There have been very dark hours of my life, where my beloved wife was not in a position to let our girls see their Dad.  That is not a good place to be.

Now, however, you could never tell.  The level of gratitude is mutual.  The children are grateful to have their Dad.  My wife is grateful to relate to her husband.  More though, I am remarkably grateful to be able to thank God for His beauty in my family.  A beauty I wish to treasure, cherish and nurture in each day as it comes.

Love and joy in this context truly is the foundation for a delightful life of service and grace to the family beyond.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
