September Sojourn: Finding Your Way

This weekend I had the pleasure of spending it in the company of some old and new friends. Among other things we were exploring spiritual gifts and their role in an individual’s response to God’s call on them.

It was a thoroughly invigorating, stimulating and energising time with people of God. Being among such spiritual giants could have been nothing less than inspiring for my walk with Christ.

One of the reflections I had from the weekend was an appreciation that busyness does not equal effectiveness. Worse still if the human body functioned like some expressions of the Body of Christ where the vast majority of the work was done by the minority of congregants then the physical body would collapse before too long. The joy is the impact we can make in relationships encouraging others to be about the business of functioning as a member in Christ’s Body.

I do sometimes despair at the seeming inability and apathy of brethren to wake up to their response to Christ in their lives. Yet now there’s more grace, patience and passion to just walk with others and facilitate opportunities to see Jesus and recognise in the light of Him we can find oir way.

In the meantime I’m grateful to God that there are people who have a testimony of God’s goodness in their lives pointing them to where they can serve Him in serving others. I endeavour to do my bit by God’s leading to follow Jesus’ example as He helps me find my way.

For His Name’s Sake
Shalom
