Today we celebrate the birth of the last Dryden child of our marital union – Zoë Anya-Cheryse Dryden.
As a deep kinda guy, I attach great significance to the lives of each of my daughters. Their births hold a lot of importance for me due to contextual factors such as the state of my relationship with God, the relationship with my wife, how well things were going at church and work, etc. I love the stories that surround their entry, however bittersweet.
Zoë holds such a special place in my heart, because she really does represent a new life for me and for my family. I look back now and think to myself the kind of life I lived before and how that chapter had to come to a close. I look back on the very difficult pregnancy my wife endured. There was a move, there were significant changes, there were big challenges. In all that God was so faithful to us as a family, God gave such strength especially to Authrine to pull through.
Three years down the line and Zoë is a strong, athletic, busy and lively child. Her development has been amazing, which I guess is to be understood considering her older siblings. Considering how close they are to her, and the loving environment in which she’s nurtured, that probably plays a part.
She already likes to get involved and knows what she wants and how to demand it. She can be very helpfulWe may not be big on material stuff, but Zoë has been blessed with love from so many sources. I thank God heaps for that.
As with all our children, Zoë is so precious. I am grateful that God has spared her life to see another year. I hope that she will see many more and not only see them but enjoy her life through them. I particularly pray that she will know that this love comes from God and her undoubtedly big heart will look to give God so much thanks for it.
