I Was Just Wondering: Pastor-centred Church

Thank God that in Jesus we see the Good Shepherd who cares for His sheep.

This indeed is wonderful news.

Yet is that a justification for some churches having their organisation centred on a Pastor considered as the one ‘in charge’ of affairs?  I do mean that in the singulat sense as well, because in as much as some give some credence to a plurality of elders, there is still a considered senior pastor.  I wonder whatever happened to Jesus being the Senior Pastor?

Also this notion that the Pastor is meant to have the vision for the church?  What’s that all about?  Where did this come from?  How does that help the diversity of people in a given expression of church to work together and make the most of their gifts in service of the church?

With all the gifts in operation in the Body of Christ, was it really the plan to have things pastor-centred? Is that really the revelation of the New Covenant?

I was just wondering.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
