There is the old television Catchphrase based on the premise that contestants watch an animated enaction of a famous catchphrase and they say what they see.
I sat in a church service recently where there was talk about wanting to see the Holy Spirit in action in the lives of people bringing deliverance to support the declaration of the good news of Jesus Christ. Not long after the conversation took place, someone who had been suffering for a long time testified of having experienced something of the healing power of Jesus.
I was left with the impression that because people were united in a desire to see something so precious and lovely for the sake of those who were suffering and for the glory of God that as a result something happened.
Almost as if they said it and they saw it.
Sure that doesn’t happen all the time people come together, but it did on that occasion. It was a delight to witness. It left a firm impression in me that I would love to see episodes like that happen on a regular basis. Nothing about titles, positions, hierarchy or any of that, just people as brothers and sisters in Christ, together seeking, together saying, together seeing the wonderful works of God in action. That’s obviously not just confined to church gatherings – that’s a desire to see that experienced in all of life, bearing witness to this good news of He who was crucified, buried, resurrected and then giving the Holy Spirit to all so that all can experience the life-giving power.
For His Name’s Sake
