Prayer Point – Jobs Update

Late last month I asked you to pray about the job situation for friends of mine, my wife and myself.  I just want to give an update on developments in that area.

During the week I was informed that my current position would be coming to an end by the end of this month.  Another way of phrasing that is that I have been made redundant.  Yet another expression of the perspective is that come March I won’t be employed in my current capacity.

Now I consider this to be an answer to prayer.  Not necessarily the one I was looking for, and certainly on the surface not one that would appear to be favourable both for the family situation and the bank account.  It is sad and disappointing to be informed of this, especially as others were also made redundant and had less time to recover from it as their contracts came to an abrupt end.  To that extent being given until the end of the month is actually a favour (you can connect that to God if you want, too.  Go on. Do it).

First thing, however, is to please remember those other employability tutors who have put out of a job as of this weekend.  Remember them in your prayers, as of course you remember all those who are struggling finding gainful employment.

As for me, although the news came as unexpected, in the context of the prayer request and the other life contextual factors, I sense this is a set-up to something else.  It is what the something else is that remains a mystery.  I am doing active jobsearch and as you can appreciate for family welfare and personal productivity I would like to access employment as soon as possible – preferably as soon as this contract ends.  That is my desire and preference.

Yet my request is not for you to pray in line with my desires and preferences – unless it so happens that they chime in elegantly with the purpose of God for me at this juncture.  Thank you for your prayers to this point that have brought about these developments.  I have been of the impression that prayer changes things – and recent developments only tend to bear that out.

The challenge is not over, however, and so I ask for more prayer to understand and do the will of God for my life at this time, and to find contentment in knowing as He leads, He will enable me to follow, if I but have the eyes to see, ears to hear and the passion to move with Him.

I’ll keep you posted.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
