I do not often use this blog for prayer request.
I have used it for prayer points on the odd occasion, and I’m more than delighted to pray for stuff meself, but I rarely if ever use it to ask you to pray for me for stuff. Dunno why. Just been the way.
Until now.
Here is what it is. As you now know, at the end of last year the Dryden Family ‘upped sticks’ and moved from beautiful Bletchley to Derby (yet to put a descriptive word in there as I’m still settling in). God has been really good in allowing the transition to go as it has and we’re grateful for that. It is still really early days, but there might be one or two things in the pipeline worth pursuing.
However, in the short term there is the issue of employment. I am employed. I enjoy my job. Yet it is located a fair trek away from the new home, and so my FIRST prayer request for you is to find suitable employment for meself a lot closer to home. By suitable I mean something that best makes use of my skills, personal qualities and passions. And also when I get it to continue to use it as an opportunity for sharing Christ in the context of mutually beneficial relationships. (So a writing gig would be great.)
The SECOND prayer request is with regard to my wife. With her it’s not just about a job, it is about finding something to get into that will be fulfilling for her as she juggles that and house management. (Not that I don’t do house management meself, you understand, just that … well … she’s good at it!)
The THIRD prayer request (so you really shouldn’t get exhausted with prayer requests) is for a number of dear loved ones to me who are either unemployed or are miserable and struggling in their current employment. For those unemployed it is to likewise find suitable employment and be missional when they get it. For those miserable in their jobs, to find some comfort in God while they endure and then to see God’s way of escape from it, whether that’s to a new job, change in work circumstances or a fresh and invigorating perspective on their current situation.
There you have it. Three prayer requests that I’m asking you to have in mind in the coming days and weeks. The deal is, when these prayers are answered, I’ll be right back to let you know and though we rejoice now because of God’s goodness in hearing and answering prayer, we’ll celebrate again when life catches up with faith.
Thanks for your prayers.
For His Name’s Sake
Shalom
C. L. J. Dryden
