It occurred to me the other day to consider what it was to be Christopher Dryden and there were some things that sprang to mind that was worth noting. (Oh and remember, it is Christopher, not ‘Chris’ that geezer died almost 3 years ago.)
Being Christopher Dryden is
– A follower of Jesus Christ still looking to see what it is to be like Him and to live His life in this generation.
– A member of God’s family, knowing that whatever position I find myself in the Spirit of God in me confirms I am a child of the heavenly Father and have a great brother in Jesus Christ. Not only that but there are sisters and brothers of all social, cultural, economic, ethnic and other backgrounds who share the passionate pursuit in Christ.
– A man riddled with flaws and failings that at the very least keeps him humble and ever in recognition of his need for God and to live in the Spirit, yet also equipped and enabled with characteristics and gifts that can benefit others significantly
– A husband to the most beautiful woman in my world, thus responsible for engaging fully in our marriage and witnessing her continuing blossoming to be all that God created her to be.
– A father of three bright, beautiful and brilliant daughters, thus responsible for nurturing them and giving them the space to grow and learn what it is to live and the one for whom life is worth living
– A keen student of what it is to live the Christ-life and how to effectively communicate that with others – for those committed to following to enable to do some all the more, and for those who have no idea or no interest, to raise interest and invite them to know Christ.
– A lover of observing football and all the more eager to see what connections can be made between that and the pursuit of the Christ-life.
– A lover of words and the media and all the more eager to see what connections can be made between that the pursuit of the Christ-life.
– A lover of music and food and all the more eager … you know where this one is going
This is a good introduction to what it is to be Christopher Dryden for the time being. There is so much more to these statements and who is to say as life develops elements will change. For the time being, as we sit at the end of another year, I’m grateful to God that I can just be. I hope to be all the more for Him even as I live for today.
For His Name’s Sake
Shalom
C. L. J. Dryden
