Zoe is our two year old daughter. She was carried into Bletchley barely 3 months old, she will walk out confidently when we leave.
On this occasion her confident walking took her next door to Dave’s house, where he and his son were putting up their Christmas lights at the front of their home. Zoe waltzed in uninvited to offer her services in helping with the lights.
I was going to reprimand her, but something stopped me. There were no complaints from Dave, and that’s been typical of our time in Bletchley. Whether with the immediate neighbours either side of us, or the neighbourhood in the wider sense, we’ve endeavoured to live at peace with them.
By that, I don’t just mean looking to avoid conflict. I mean endeavour to show some concern for people’s welfare and engage in the life of the area. Whether in helping with childcare or looking after mail we looked to help. Zoe’s efforts typified that and I know Authrine and the girls will be missed because of the invitation to wholeness their lives express.
It’s a Bletchley Lesson.
