Introducing Bletchley Lessons

December is an interesting month as far as I am concerned.

Of course it’s not the best month of the year.  That indisputably goes to its predecessor, November.  Yet in December the following significant events took place in my life.

1999 – This was the time when I had a ground-breaking, life-changing encounter with the spiritual discipline of fasting that literally took me from everything I knew to a new place.

2004 – My beloved wife safely delivered our first child into the world.

2005 – I write my first ever blog post.  That’s right 7 years ago I got this habit started.

2009 – Having spent the best part of a decade in Stoke-on-Trent, along with my pregnant wife (it’s alright, we stopped the habit of doing special things whilst she was pregnant after this child) and two daughters, we leave the area to start a voyage of discovery.

So December has featured a number of outstanding incidents that have marked my life significantly.

In that regard, then, I shouldn’t be surprised that come another December, comes another significant twist to the Dryden plot.  so it is that due to a number of events and indicators over this last year, the Dryden Family are moving – AGAIN.  Let me give it some sort of perspective, since I started blogging 7 years ago we have resided in no less than 5 different properties.  Indeed our time in Bletchley has been the longest we’ve ever spent in one property since my wife and I were married in 2003.

Can I tell you why that has been the case?  Not really.  I am used to being settled and the moving is rather annoying.  By now, however, the bite of irritation at the trauma of moving has lessened somewhat, probably due to almost getting used to it!

We do not leave Bletchley under a cloud or in acrimony.  God has served us so well in our time here that we leave with lots of good memories and constructive episodes to recall.

It is in that light, that in the coming week I hope to share some of the lessons that have been learnt in our time here.  These won’t be long posts (stop the cheering).  Just brief reflections on things that have impacted me in a deep way over our time here.  I’m sure as time allows there will be even more reflections to share.

I hope they will be of interest and some use to you as you read them.

Oh and where are we moving?  Why are we moving?  What’s going to happen to us when we get to where we’re going.  Well I would tell you … just not yet!

For His Name’s Sake
