Question of Identity

I have read and heard a lot of things lately that intrigues me. I hope to share more in future entries.

What I want to state here, though, is something fundamental to my entire existence.

Jesus Christ is my identity.

That has huge cultural, social, political and relational consequences. It is a truth that shapes the rest of my life in its manifestation. That makes me unusual in a world which declares other things as being the ultimate defining factor. Even in church.

Where others subscribe to helpful and unhelpful categories to classify themselves from national affiliation to doctrinal association, I am growing to find these far too constricting. At best they are indicators to part of the fullness in Christ. At worse they are deviations that can hinder anyone’s progress to Christ.

I am enjoying the journey, difficult though it is, amd I would passionately encourage you to take on the journey and embrace for all its worth as there really is no better pursuit in life.
