If you knock about with me long enough, you’ll discover one of my favourite verses to whip out is the first part of 2 Peter 3:18 (worth checking the context). It still hits me as a priority to new believers to realise that in everything that happens, knowing Jesus Christ must remain the most important thing. I am grateful for the revelation of that, because for years I was stuck in the religious routine with little in the way of personal transformation, because knowing Him was not my goal.
JPK sings of this beautifully here and I especially enjoy the part where he states that to worship Jesus is to know Jesus. That’s why I find it odd people claiming to love someone they hardly know! Jesus is far too precious for glib sentiments – it is well worth getting to know Him.
