This is another blog entry thanking God for grace.
For if it were not for grace there would be little to do to deal with the depth of our depravity. No this is not an advert for Calvinism, but it is a suggestion that for the beautiful things we humans produce on the earth in our lifetimes, there are some seriously twisted, dark, distorted and perverted things that occur not just in life, but in our minds.
It’s not always the extreme gross things that are the issue. Sometimes it’s waking up one day, or coming to the dawning realisation that a lot of the things you have taken on as the way to go should now be unlearnt. It is coming to terms with the fact that attitudes, behaviours, thoughts and principles that for so long we assumed were the foundation of life are actually poppycock. While we held onto them and practiced them we were more of a hindrance to the Kingdom than an effective ambassador.
When we realise such things we get to grips with just how deep the problem is. When the good news says that Jesus has come to take away the sins of the world, we have to realise it is a big deal. When the good news says that Jesus has forgiven us, we have to realise it is a big deal. It is a big deal and gets bigger every day we grow in Christ and realise just how deep the problem is with us, and thus how deep the grace of God is to resolve those issues.
Thank God for His grace.
