You know when you’re reading a book – or imagine you know when you’re reading a book if you don’t read a book – and you’ve got to a good bit but you have to nip off to do something important, so you leave a bookmark on the page to remind you where you were at?
Well call this a blog-mark.
I read this the other day and referred it to a friend who sent a message to me about what it sparked off in terms of thoughts and connections to church development.
The end of her email had a phrase that is the title of this blog-mark.
The Gospel Sharing.
I thought it was fascinating. The Gospel sharing. In some circles that refers to an attitude where you go out handing tracts and booklets explaining to people all the things they wanted to know about Christianity but didn’t have the time to ask. (Of course they don’t have the time to ask, but they will have the time to read the tract … of course …)
I know my friend wasn’t looking at it that way. I know my friend was looking at the individual and more importantly the communal expression of who we live for and what we’re all about.
It is a thought well worth exploring further, especially in the context of the article that I referred to initially.
So the blog-mark works as a reminder to come back to this point and develop further – I’ve even given it a tag of its own, so there’s always something there to remind me.
In the meantime, think it from your own point of view – what is The Gospel Sharing?
For His Name’s Sake
Shalom
