As someone who is keen to pursue God, I’m intrigued by how He works through the systems of the day. He has given each its time – time for a dictatorship, time for a monarchy, time for a meritocracy, time for an aristocracy and currently for some a time for democracy. It’s clear that elements of His character can be seen in all the systems (yep, all of them), but it’s also clear that the human expression of each system highlights the flaws, failings and fractures of the who we are.
If you didn’t know any better, and when you watch a video like this, you’d be of the impression that democracy is the business and the best of a bad bunch. I’m certain though (yep, certain) that scratch the surface and it’s not all that, and the thinking that it is and its application in other areas (like church life for instance) could make things messy. That’s just me, though. It’s a talking point.
