Wealth is worthless in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death. (Proverbs 11:4)
The pursuit for material gain is rampant. Who you are can be determined by what you have materially (or not). It is only too easy to get sucked into it with it defining your ‘quality of life’. Yet God states, wisdom highlights and experience suggests that when the going gets tough, material wealth is worthless. Rather than reach that conclusion the hard way, the wise man states from the beginning if our pursuit is to do and be everything pleasing to God, that will help us enjoy and endure life in good times and bad.
