DMCD Songs: We Need A Word From The Lord – Thomas Whitfield and Kim Burrell

So what kind of words do you have coming at you?

It’s worth thinking about, from the time you wake up in the morning until you reach your time to sleep at the end of your day, how many words do you have coming at you? From your loved ones, from the television, from the internet, from colleagues, from magazines and newspapers, from adverts on the street, from overheard conversations, from friends, from yourself.

Words.  Bombarding you.  Teasing you.  Taunting you. Challenging you.  Persuading you. Coaxing you. Rebuking you.  All sorts.

Be careful.  Some of those words are good words.  Some of those are great words.  Some of those words will build the character of Christ in you through loving, sacrificial acts and sentiments.  Yet some of those words are designed to divert you from all of that.  Some of the best sounding words are actually the words of the enemy to ensnare you and get you down a path from which only God Himself can rescue you.

That’s why what Thomas Whitfield so brilliantly sings at the top and what the excellent Kim Burrell reminds us below, we need to have our ears attuned to what the Spirit is saying to us.  Jesus Himself informs us that His sheep know His voice, which is to suggest He talks and the sheep listen.  So it is to set the hearing to follow what the word from the Lord says so that all doubt is removed.  It is also incumbent on us to be desperate for that word.

Go to it.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
