Prayer – Out Of Sight But Not Out Of Mind

I am a big subscriber to the sad condition of ‘out-of-sight-out-of-mind’. Yeah, it’s a true story.  In as much as I have a fairly decent memory, if you’re not in my physical circle of influence, it is likely to be easy for me to relegate you just to those memories. I am not one for regular phone calls.  I can do emails from time to time, but other than that the best form of contact is via texts. Otherwise, with the exception of social network sites which I frequent fairly regularly but not for long periods, I will tend not to remember you.

But for prayer.

The power of prayer and the importance of that divine connection brings to mind those relationships that could otherwise have been forgotten or considered not that important.  As I ask God to help me in my life, so He reminds me to consider others and consider them by name and then by how much they mean to me, and then more importantly considering what they must mean to Him. Rather than talking about someone’s business behind their back and contributing to gossip, far greater insight and concern that often motivates action comes from talking about people with God.  Even if there’s nothing I can do in terms of physical resources and the like, it keeps them in mind.  It keeps me ever remembering how valuable and precious people and relationships are.

Thank God for prayer.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
