Having A Feast Of Fun

So as you know it was me birthday the other day and what a wonderful time it was too.  Of course, because of the huge personality I am, not all the presents and goodies could be received on that day and one of the big deals that me loving family put together was a chance to have a meal at a restaurant.  So with me daughters, me son, me nephew, me brother, me brother’s wife and of course the sensational, beautiful, stunning wife of me youth I partook of the experience of an All-You-Can-Eat affair.

Let me say from now this place was awesome.  Now I’m aware that part of the strategy is that people will be so ambushed by the variety on offer that they’ll be spoilt for choice and end up having a plate of food and a drink and leave it at that.  What this outlet didn’t bargain for was the Appetite of a Dryden!  For indeed if my parents taught me anything it was that having given God thanks for the food it was my privilege and honour to partake of what was put on my plate, savouring all of it to the glory of the Provider.  So when confronted with Indian, Chinese, Mexican and even English delicacies, as a good Dryden should, my plate was full and running over with the delicious options on offer.

Having completed that first plate, it was only right and fit that to fully maximise that which had been invested I had another plate full.  You may say I was guilty of gluttony, but I was only too aware of me capacity to take on board what was laid on offer and I didn’t go beyond that set of seconds.  By that I, of course, don’t include the course of fruit I enjoyed as dessert.  And so I salute Red Hot Buffet for their sumptuous offerings.  I enjoyed meself immensely.

The deal, though, is that enjoying the food is one thing, but sitting around the table with family is about enjoying the company.  After all, if it was  food, I’d come by meself, have me fill, then mosey on out of there.  As it was, me children got to spend quality time with their cousin, me wife and her son got to mix with me brother’s wife, and of course vitally for me, I got to spend some quality time having banter with my dear brother.  The banter we had, the laughter, the good times – these will not be forgotten in Dryden history.

All to say that feasts are fun not just for the food, but for the fellowship – and perhaps that’s what life should be all about. Perhaps.

Just blogging.  That is all.  Carry on.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
