It Is Good To Rest

My daughter Abigail has lots of energy. She positively thrives on bouncing and dancing from one thing to another. Just when I think she does not have enough, she bounds across with even more. She is incredible.

Yet come Friday evening, without fail, the Energiser Bunny that is Abigail, runs out of power. She slows down. Sucks her thumb, curls up on the couch and lets the TV watch her. Knowing that her Dad will pick her up and put her in her bed. She will sleep. She will sleep long. She will sleep well. When she wakes she will bounce and dance again, much to the amusement of her exhausted father.

Her cares are different to mine. Her concept of responsibility is very different to mine. One thing she and her father shares at this time is the fact that at the end of every worthwhile cycle that God has given, it is good to rest. By rest, that really means – rest.

Think about it.
