It’s a bit odd isn’t it. We claim to be a church of the New Covenant, but behave a great deal like we’re still living in the Old Covenant.
We see the new life in Christ that calls us to be the priesthood, yet operate in a way that suggests certain priests are to ‘minister’ and not others. Jesus is not a part of the Aaronic priesthood, but I hear references to believers being Levites quite often.
We claim not to believe in a clergy-laity split but still practice two-tier Christianity where the leader/pastor/elder/bishop stands above and beyond everyone else and congregants are shepherded to be fed by the leader.
In the light of the church’s early days as recorded in Scripture it is rather odd how current church practices and principles appear to depart from what is seen there.
It is odd, that.
Just blogging.
That is all.
