How You View It

Part of my story is one of having my ignorance, pride and other ugly things that lurk within exposed to me on a regular basis.  Another part of my story is how at the same time as its exposure there is redemption and restoration, almost as if having it exposed is not for my embarrassment, but is for my humility, gratitude and then development.

I have been guilty of labelling people and condemning them with that label.  Once a bum, always a bum and I don’t want to hang around bums (bad enough sitting on one!).  As I said, that horrific approach to the family of man was exposed for how ugly it was when I had the opportunity to work at the North Staffs YMCA.  Seeing the picture above reminded me of just how important it is to see people with the eyes of Christ – not just because the ‘bum’ today could be my ‘doctor’ tomorrow, but because bum or doctor he is worthy of my respect and love, just as I am recipient of love and respect most notably from the Saviour of the universe.

Good to be reminded of that every now and again when I lose focus of Jesus.  Thank God for those words that in as much as I do it to the least of His brothers, I’m doing it for Him.
