I can get away with a post like this now because it’s nowhere near the awards season! If it was January or February you would understandably think me somewhat opportunistic. Not that I have a problem being opportunistic, but on this occasion, it’s coming from something completely different.
I am a big fan of YouTube. I don’t watch it all the time, and I don’t subscribe to tons of video publishers, I’m not even all that quick with the latest ‘funny’ thing on there. I do, however enjoy searching for things and finding things that lead to other things that lead to other things that comfortably keeps me informed, enlightened, amused and somewhat confused at what people across this world consider worthy of taking up some of that net space.
Being a fan of movies as I am and a particular enthusiast of the good work of Robert De Niro, I was intrigued to come across his acceptance speech for the AFI Life Achievement Award back in 2003.
One thing I’m keen on doing on this blog from time to time is giving thanks and paying tribute, to God for the things He has done. I also love paying tribute to people in my life who have made it so much worthwhile living. I imagine one day a celebration taking place on a far greater level than this full of people paying tribute to Jesus Christ for the things He has done and the person He is in out lives. Until then I still want to practice the habit giving respect to people that Jesus has worked through to make a huge difference in my life. their impact has been even greater than Robert De Niro. For whatever plaudits this actor receives, the galaxy of humans who bless me tremendously deserve those and more.
There will be more tributes, then, to some who are regulars (like my wife, children, siblings and parents) and some brand new people. In all the tribute I pay, please notice I’m not saying they are more than life itself, it is because they enrich life itself, that is what makes them worthy of my gratitude.
For His Name’s Sake
Shalom
