Not a long one today, I was just thinking. I read a quote somewhere that failure is just a detour on our journey of faith.
I get where the quote is coming from. Through the Holy Spirit and careful, attentive sensitivity to His leading on our lives we should be able to discern what God’s will is for our lives. There’s no point in quoting the verse about God being able to keep us from falling, unless we can live without falling by His grace.
In all life, however, it is still marked by failings and failures. When I reflect on the role these episodes play in life, I get the impression they are deliberately allowed for the greater purpose of creating a meek, humble and more sensitive character as a result. They are not detours in the journey, they are crucial points in what is essentially the quest to be like the Son. As long as we are not failings are inevitable even if not intentional on are parts. As God’s grace enables us to see Him even in the failing, so we grow in the grace and knowledge of Him.
Just blogging.
That is all.
For His Name’s Sake
Shalom
